common pest issues we treat in uniondale
Uniondale is a hamlet in Nassau County, New York. It is situated on Long Island, in the Town of Hempstead. The population was 24,759 at the 2010 census.
Uniondale is home to Hofstra University’s North Campus and the NYCB Live at Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum.
The neighborhood of Uniondale was originally called “Fostertown”, but was renamed in 1845 after farmer William Cooper’s oldest son, Edward Valentine Cooper, served in the Mexican–American War and died in the Battle of Chapultepec. In 1876, with the completion of the Long Island Rail Road to Hicksville, Fostertown became Hicksville Junction; the name was changed to Union Vale in 1885 and finally to Uniondale in 1910.
The hamlet’s growth began in earnest when it was connected via the LIRR to New York City, leading to an influx of middle-class residents looking for a place to call home outside of the city. This trend continued into the early 20th century when Uniondale became known as a “bedroom community” for those who worked in New York City.
The hamlet began to grow even more rapidly when, in 1937, Mitchel Field was built in East Meadow just to the southeast of Uniondale. The presence of the airfield led to an increase in military personnel and civilians working at the facility. In addition, the construction of the Roosevelt Raceway in Westbury brought even more development to Uniondale.
Today, Uniondale is a thriving community with a diverse population. The hamlet is home to a variety of businesses and cultural institutions, making it a great place to live, work, and raise a family.
